Our story

Traditional Meat Market’s history begins before the opening of its doors, with a 19-year-old being encouraged by his mentor and friend to step outside of Lakeside Packers and enter into what we now know as a traditional way of cutting meat to directly supply families.

Hand-cut meat from a butcher is becoming a lost trade, and James Belanger has spent 30 years perfecting his craft. He was encouraged by his childhood mentors, friends, family, and wife Victoria over the years to open a shop that upholds the integrity of the meat for retail. Traditional Meat Market focuses on providing quality meat that each of us has been waiting to buy.

Did You Know?

All of Traditional Meat Market’s meat comes from local ranchers and farmers and is also butchered locally. It is then brought in carcass form to Traditional Meat Market to be broken down my our local meat cutter, James Belanger!

Along with a store full for fresh meats available, we also have freezer packs to order! As well, you can also make special orders! If you are having a large gathering or looking for a specific cut of meat to add the finishing touches to your recipe, you can call the shop or ask in-store, and we would be happy to help you.
